Welcome to Feathered Friends Forever Rescue/Refuge, Inc.Feathered Friends Forever works to improve the lives of companion birds and promotes advancing avian welfare through humane education, rescue, and by providing a temporary and/or permanent safe haven for birds. Feathered Friends Forever is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization licensed as an animal shelter by the State of Georgia. Hours of operation:Summer: Thurs through Sunday - 11am - 5pm Winter Sat & Sun - 11am - 4pm Other times by appointment PLEASE NOTE: The park has outdoor aviaries located in an all natural environment. We are constantly expanding and improving our facility so be aware of new construction projects. When you visit, do not wear open toe shoes or flip-flops. This is a natural setting so ants may be present as well as sticks and stones. Please instruct your children not to run on the grounds or to throw things as this upsets the birds. Keep them close to you as you never know when that perfect photo opportunity may arise! If you are bringing a group, kindly let us know in advance so we can ensure everyone has a good time. Mid October Special!Welcome to all of our Feathered Friends, Bird Owners, care givers and supporters! We felt this Winter Housing opportunity was important enough to send everyone a Special newsletter. It's not often that someone offers to expand our Rescue so we really need your help. Please read about it below: Winter Housing Expansion Needs Your Help! We have a fantastic opportunity to expand the winter quarters for our special needs birds with new porch additions on the front and side of the building! Each area will be wide enough for wheelchair access and provide an outside view for the birds. We plan to install radiant heat in the floor so the birds will always be evenly warm regardless of winter weather. As you know we are the boarding facility for birds belonging to our troops stationed overseas. We are also a bird shelter for hurricane evacuations, so we need the extra space. These new additions will add almost 800 square feet to our building and accommodate at least 50 of the stacked cages that have already been donated by the Petco Foundation for this expansion. All building materials and labor will be donated if we can just provide the heaters and concrete slab! Here's where you can help: We need to raise an additional $3900 for the concrete and in floor heating elements, all of which we are getting at a discount. If everyone reading this can donate at least $20, we will be able to get it started this month and finished by the Thanksgiving Open House. The birds and staff thank you for your caring and extra help! |
