Bring your credit cards and check books! Bring all those coins that have accumulated, since Cash is also acccepted. PLANT DAY! Twice a year we aquire plants from McCorkle Nursery and fill the greenhouse. Bring your shovel and get a great workout planting trees, flowers and bushes. Since the majority of the property is old ocean sand, digging is really easy. Bring a bag of Peat Moss or Top Soil and use your Green Thumb to create a garden plot in honor of your special bird.
Columbia County Fair (October 30 - November 8, 2008) What a great time! We took different birds each day so they got to meet people and see the fair. BoBo was upset because she wasn't tall enough to get on any of the rides. Brian Ruth carved a beautiful macaw from a pine log. We named him "Woody" and he is now a resident in the building. Thanksgiving Open House (November 22, 2008) COLD and Sunny was the only way to describe the day as only 20 brave bird lovers ventured to the Rescue for an awesome meal of turkey, ham and all the trimmings. We had canopies set up where the new porch will be built so it was nice and warm in there.
