Volunteers are the heart and soul of any non-profit and we are no exception! Our entire staff is made up of dedicated volunteers that donate countless hours and personal funds to keep the entire rescue maintained.
Are you interested in joining us in our mission? We happily accept volunteers every day of the week.
If this sounds like something you are up for, please continue reading!
You may email birdrescueron@aol.com with any questions or to set up a time to come volunteer!
PLEASE NOTE: Prior to volunteering, please let us know if you have any allergies that may preclude you from volunteering. We work with our birds very closely and do not wish to aggravate any condition.
We love having seniors out to complete hours for their senior projects! Let us know what your topic is and we can tailor your hours so you get the most out your experience!
Need a mental health boost? A little time just to get out and "do" something? Enjoy donating your time to animals in need? We hear you loud and clear, it is how we all started here as well. It's hard work, but they will always make you smile.
We have an hour requirement for adoption for most of our parrots, please email us to set up your hours.
We accept community service personnel as well, let us help you get your service hours fulfilled.
This is required for all Volunteers. Please see the form below. These are also available on site.
This is required for all Volunteers, Parrots can be unpredictable and bites do happen to even the most experienced bird keepers. It is highly recommended to listen to staff instructions to minimize risk.
We are an outdoor facility, as such the majority of our work is in outdoor conditions. Please dress accordingly to the weather and your comfort. Often our work is dirty, if you prefer to wear gloves, please do so HOWEVER gloves WILL NOT be worn during training/rehab sessions with parrots. This is for your safety as the majority of birds carry fear about gloves and may become agitated at the presence alone.
This is a requirement. Our work usually consists of working outside and with animals. To minimize risk, close toe shoes are recommended for volunteer work....boots preferred.
Flip Flops are NOT acceptable attire for 99% of our work, it is much preferred these are left at home or in the car in favor of close toe shoes.
This is another safety requirement. While working with birds, should they be on the ground, pants are much preferred to any other attire.
If you are volunteering for required hours (community service, senior project, adoption requirements), please be sure to bring any of your required documentation for us to fill out.
All Forms may be printed and brought in person or downloaded and emailed to birdrescueron@aol.net
